Update; Truck Stop in Holland still uncertain.

Yesterday one year ago, Flying J filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Back on July 14, 2009, Flying J released a Press Release announcing a merger with Pilot Travel Center LLC.
According to Mike Miller, operations manager at Flying J Property Development Group, everything is still on hold, “nobody knows what is going to happen, I can’t tell you which projects will be built and which aren’t, everything is on hold.”
Mr. Miller: “We are still waiting for the approval of the merger by the “FTC.”
If you hear rumors in town that the Flying J truck stop was not going to be built, don’t believe it! For the time being, it is just on hold. There is still time to collect the rest of the needed signatures to get that zoning bylaw change to prevent the truck stop.

just wondering
When this article came out I wote a response. I know that many of us are still very concerned about a proposed truck stop being built in our community. It never showed up on the web site and I noticed no one else responded. Is it possible there is something wrong I wondered if I'm not the only one that happened to. I'm not suggesting it was deleted I am wondering if there is something wrong that they are not going thru? or maybe I just did something wrong...

Anyway if the truck stop does go thru it will be the cause of more problems than this town can handle. Right now there are many town residents upset with our selectmen if this goes thru there will be so many more!!

I told you so..
To "Very concerned," most commenters who fail to leave a comment for the first time struggle with the (necessary) security code. I know it is a pain, put it is necessary. Automated web prowlers try to post commercial ads/messages (spam) on blogs like this and the only way to prevent it is by placing a speed bump or hurdle in their way. After typing your comment, follow the instructions given and click on "go back," the comment should be added immediately!

It is startling that the potential truck stop does not generate more interest. The entire community except a few seem to be a sleep. The few who see the potential and real damage such a facility will bring to our community instead of the promised tax dollars will be left to say to the ignorant rest,
"I TOLD YOU SO.."

Let's help BP!
BP will be faced with the immense cleanup cost in the Gulf of Mexico; I suggest that the James Wettlaufer and the other two members of the Board of Selectmen of Holland will require Flying J to contract with BP to operate the dozens of pumps needed to re-fuel the hundreds of trucks at the proposed truck stop right next to our lake so BP can get back on their feet and get profitable again.
