OK already we all know what a slime ball Mr Earl Johnson is. In his mind it is OK to steal town treasures for his family. After all he works for the town.
The people that he surrounds himself with to stack our town Govt are just as much to blame as Earl and some learn their lessons well from him. The residents just do not seem to care so why should we.
This is Holland. It has been corrupted by the Johnsons and others for close to 30 years. Our elected town officials have turned our town hall into a municipal mafia. They take health insurance for part time work. They ignore the law and take what they want from our town coffers for their own personal gain. They fill all positions with friends and families and this will not stop until all of halland takes action to stop it.
We need to stop comlaining and pay our taxes or move out. Holland residents want this gaff otherwise they would take the appropriate action.
THe DA and Attorney General look the other way and also partly are to blame for what is going on in this town. I say that chaos also needs a home base here in central Mass and it has found a good one here in Holland.
God help us all.

July 28 2005
It was summer 2005. Earl Johnson as a Selectman and member of the planning board and company called and stacked a special town meeting to change the Holland Bylaws to allow the Johnson Boyz to build on the landlocked property that their Daddy had fraudulently conveyed from the town to their gang.
No one from Holland cared to go and according to the minutes of the planning board there was never a public hearing to discuss the change as required by law. The article passed as do all the articles proposed in an apathetic community. The following are the paragraphs in the complaint:
55. "On 7-28-2005, the voters of Holland voted in favor of Article # 1 and thereby approved the PBH’s proposed change “[t]o remove section “n: of Common
Driveway bylaw section 7.8 on p. 51.”
56. Bylaw section 7.8 (n) provided: Common driveways shall at no time be used to satisfy zoning frontage requirements. Each lot served shall have lot frontage on a street which serves to satisfy lot frontage requirements.
57. The PBH minutes never mentioned the proposed change in any way."...........
The article voted at the July 2005 "special town meeting" did not really change anything as it is Massachusetts General Law that deals with the need for frontage and not Holland By-Law, as Earl would want you to believe.
The change I am speaking of can be seen if you click "read more' above and then scroll down to and click on the dark italicized word "complaint".
Or, just click here to see the complaint.
Once there, read paragraph 55-57 on page 6.
Hey Earl... Holland by laws can not be in conflict with or Superseed Mass General Law and the houses are still Illegal and MUST be removed from the land as required by law.
No matter what you do to me or say about me or my family will not change that fact.
I plan to photograph the removal of those homes when it happens.
I can't wait to see you and your family get what you deserve. You have been looting and pillaging our community long enough and if Hollland voters are too scared to act there are other ways to remove you from office. This Court action will show all the people that you have been lying, and what kind of a demon you really are.
By the way....after Earl and his spawn built the Illegal Houses on former town land they had another "Special town meeting" that changed the By-Law back to the way it was before Earl "fixed it" for his offspring. That way nobody else can build houses the way the Johnsons did.
So ONLY the Johnsons were allowed to build houses on landlocked property because of their "special" status. ALL other residents of Holland must obey state law when dealing with common driveways and landlocked property. Only Earl and Family were exempt.
Good luck with the appellate court and thank you Mr Frei.
Jim L.

Disgusted with Some Town Officials
If the above article re bylaw change to remove common driveway regulations is true WHY ON EARTH weren't Holland residents made more aware of it before it happened. Shame on all the voters who were "Asleep @ the Wheel" OR shame on our public officials who hid these facts. Enough is enough. I just moved to this lovely lil town year round after years of summer residency and now I don't know if I want to continue to live amidst all this corruption. People please WAKE UP and put a stop to the actions of these corrupt officials. Thank you for revealing these illegal matters (even if it is after the fact) so we can now be on guard BEFOREHAND and ACT!!!
I'd also like to know more about the current tax collector ALSO scooping up property for her son that would have raised $$ for the town in tax title auction... Hasn't she learned a lesson after the prior TC (Jean Rozema) served time in jail for such improprieties.... Keep in mind "what goes around comes around," and Mr. Johnson's (etal) day will come......

WRITE-IN SELECTMAN
WRITE IN >>>>>JAMES FOLEY<<<<< Selectman.
Mr Foley. I am sorry to do this to you also, but like I told Carol...Holland needs you.
ALL who read this Blog. I have met Jim Foley. He was a Selectman twice recalled because of his actions in the stink that is the DD-111 documented by Mr Foley above.
A man of ethics he was punished for his honesty by the corrupt ones infesting our town govt. They smeared this man and his family after he caught them breaking the law. I don't blame him if he never serves our community again.
He also had an unpopular action where he wanted our Former Chirf Jovan to be trained at the Police acadamy or be replaced. Jovan was too out of shape to pass the training at the accadamy and it was unpopular at the time when Mr. Foley insisted Holland obey state law re Police Training.
The Johnson political machine had lied to the town so badly that Foley was a victim.
Now Mr Peterson is the unopposed incumbant and although there is no wrongdoing by Selectman Peterson being alleged here I ask why Peterson has sat by and allowed all the Illegal acts that have transpired on the Selectboard these past years.
Why has Peterson not taken action to bring in the Attornry General and the District Attorney in on the Johnsongate deal.
Why does Peterson turn a Blind Eye to the Corruption in our town Hall.
Peterson is a nice enough guy but takes no action to move Holland foreward.

No Help from the DA!
"Write in Campaign," just to inform you, the DA's office couldn't care less, Jim Foley contacted The DA's office and asked District Attorney William Bennett for help back in December of 1994, when Jim Foley attempted to "clean house." All the news papers in the area picked up the story and wrote extensively about the D.D.111 report. William M. Bennett did not even return calls to news papers. He himself knows how to stay out of trouble by not getting involved. To this day he is still DA for the Hampden County and is therefor our DA. The rational behind it all is that these officials respect the "autonomy" of communities, but that only works if members of communities care and get involved. The corrupt part of the community got "involved" and "thanked" Jim Foley by recalling him twice!

Assessors's Position
The Mass DOR Report issued to the Town of Holland indicated that Selectmen should not be assessors and that the Assessor should be an appointed and not elected. There has been no action on the part of the Selectmen to do this. YES I would be willing to be an Assessor, So lets get the ball rolling ...... But I don't think the three selectmen would be willing to appoint me. This issue with the DOR should be put on a Warrant at a Town Meeting. Sadly, there is a conflict of interest here.

You are a brave woman, Carolyn!
Carolyn Reardon refers to “Recommendation 8 included in the DOR report, here is the text:
Page 14:
Recommendation 8: Appoint Separate Board of Assessors
We recommend that the town separate the duties of the board of assessors from those of selectmen, and make the assessors' positions appointed. Of the three members on the elected board of assessors in Holland, two also serve as selectmen. It is our understanding that the selectmen appointed two of their members to fill mid-term resignations on the board of assessors. Then, at a subsequent town election, the selectmen were voted-in, by their own right, to the board of assessors.
Due to the significant amount of responsibilities of the board of selectmen and the fundamentally different mission of the board of assessors, the assessors' responsibilities should be split from those of the selectmen. Therefore, at an appropriate point in the future, we feel that town meeting and town voters, under M.G.L. 41, §1B, should convert the board of assessors from elected to appointed. The selectmen would then appoint a separate board of assessors.
To read the DOR report issued about the town of Holland mentioned by Carolyn Reardon, click here and scroll down to page 14. To read the piece about the DOR report posted on this blog, click here!
You are a brave woman, Carolyn! I will vote for you.

2 Selectman are Assessors
As Earl and Chris are not only Selectmen, but are also Assessors, I do
not understand why they have not made efforts comply with the D O R report. Each and every item in this report brings out what should be done to make this a better town Government, Mr. Johnson is so quick to bash the previous Board of Selectmen, BUT I do not recall ever being sued during our Term. Also, we did accomplish the return of equipment from previous officers totalling approx. $15,000. Dive Equipment, where is that now? Two Bikes, are they still there. What about the computers that were bought, there are not all at the police department. As I have said before, INVENTORY should be mandatory. Accountability is what the tax payers are asking for. What is the problem. Keeping an inventory should take no longer than a couple hours per week from the invoices. Wishing for a better Holland and accountability of our tax dollars. The job of the Selectman is very demanding and I agree that there should be a division between Selectmen and Assessor.
