Brimfield town officials had called for an emergency meeting to be held this morning at 10:00 to find solutions to keep the town running outside the walls of the Town Hall as its roof is in danger of collapsing. Read more»

Historical Building

As I read about the Brimfield Town Hall I can only hope they preserve this historic building. I think of the charm it adds to the community as generations of venerable and mostly ethical officials governed that wonderful little town from within the walls of that building. Their town infrastructure speaks volumnes to the dedication of those who served in that historic structure.
How about the Holland Town Hall. The Plumber started a fire and our Fire Dept was right on time with trusty ole pump 1. Then the pump broke making it so our fire hoses did not charge. Our town hall burned to the ground. I bet many officials were glad about that because of the DD 500 scandel. Earl Johnson must have felt relieved as he wrongly thought the Johnson-gate evidence was gone for good.

You know our voters gave the officials 1 million dollars to build Holland a new safety complex for the fire department and police department. This came at the time Jack Keough condemned our fire house.
Our officials squandered 200,000 dollars of the one million on a "feasability study" Paul Foster attempted to have the fire department become a full time department and presented a 3-5 million dollar building to the town meeting. His proposal was soundly and rightfully defeated.
However our officials misused the remaining safety complex funds by building 2 pole barns with the safety complex monies. One for the fire department and 1 for the highway department. The money was supposed to be for fire/police NOT fire/highway. The buildings we got are worth about 400 thousand dollars to purchase and erect.
This is but one example of the many instances of gross mismanagement of voters direction and will by our public officials. Where is the rest of the million dollars that we continue to pay interest on?
Get involved Help Holland.

Good Luck Brimfield.....

President Washington
I am saddened to hear that the town Hall in Brimfield has been condemned but I am sure Mr. Keough is completely correct in his assessment of this age-old building.

Our first president the esteemed George Washington resides in full glory within the town hall in a 25-foot oil painting. Anyone who has not seen this painting should do so at once before our beloved President is moved to a undisclosed location for the rest of eternity.

It is because of this man that we as Americans live in such a free way that we should all honor this man and protect his legacy.

George Washington Painting removed
Mr. Channell, I learned yesterday during the tri-community meeting at the town hall of Wales from Diane Panaccione that the painting had been moved to a secure location and is no longer inside the Brimfield town hall. I hope that the painting will not disappear for eternity as you stated, and instead will return after the repair of the roof.

President Washington
Mr. Frei,

Thank you for this information.

I am sure because of the historical and personnel significance of this painting that it will be well taken care of. Even though a local artist painted Mr. Washington the monetary value is of little significance when it comes to this painting, as President Washington’s legacy cannot be valued in dollars in cents. I have faith that those in charge of this painting well-being will do the right thing and we will all see President Washington again in Brimfield’s future. I consider myself fortunate to have viewed it several times in my life here in the Pioneer valley.
Your help is appreciated.
