Guardrail Repair
When Earl and Brian Johnson and Kevin Gleason barricaded Mikes Beach waterfront with 3 posts they said it was guardrail repair even though there is no embankment from the street at Mikes Beach.
Why didn't the Hogway gang fix this section of guardrail which is much more in need than Mikes Beach.
Another fine job By Bri Bri and the holland Hogway Gang. Way to ho Earl

Good Job
Kudos to the Police and Fire Department. Where was the highway deprtment with sand. There at the end. This is one of the worse areas in town. What happened to preventative maintenance?

Kudo's
Why Kudo's to the cops??? For doing their Jobs that they get paid to do? With Benefits and pensions that most average non union workers never see?
I agree with Kudo's for the fire department as they volunteer. As for the Highway Department????? See Johnson landgate.

Thankfull for the HPD.
In reference to previous comments, there is not much the Highway Department can do if temperatures are as low as they were this morning. The two graphs below show that ice does not work well at low temperatures and sand does not make much sense either as long as it is till snowing.
“alternate
As to the person who criticized the Police Department for doing its job; the pensions were granted by the voters of Holland. If everybody at the Town Hall would do what they are supposed to do we would be much better off.
As far as my personal opinion about the Police Department, I’m glad that we have now a PD which protects others and myself from attempts by the Johnsons’ to have others/me arrested without cause, see post: “Our elected Highway Superintendent a liar?”
The claim by the Johnsons’ that concrete posts were “replaced” in front of Mike’s beach out of safety concerns is ludicrous; I think that everybody knows that by now.

HOLD ON PETER
I posted the comment called WHY.. It was not criticisim of the Cops. Ok... It was a question as to why do people insist on giving cops kudo's for doing their jobs....People are expected to do their Jobs they are paid well for. Not for Kudo's but because it is what they get paid to do.
The police need to be differentiated from our Fire guys who truely deserve the Kudo's because they work for free.!! as Volunteers without pensions or other benifits. That was the purpose of my post. Not to criticize the cops.

Kudo's to Yellow Truck drivers.
I Live in Holland and yes we do have people wh can drive yellow trucks and other color trucks with snow plows and sand. Even though they never plow me out i still say they do a decent job at snow removal and spreading thousands of tons of sand over the roads for traction. Thousands of tons is what they take out of that sand shed every winter.
Too bad they don't know how to recover that sand. I bet less than 1 percent is swept up or cleaned out of catch basin sumps. Guess where it ends up????
So yes they can drive the trucks. But they certainly can not improve our roads as the deterioration of the roadways in our town is evident. The Spin doctors will tell you that the budget is bad all over but that does not answer for the lackof work or improvements during the boom.
To see where the sand ends up copy and paste the link below into your browser
http://01521.com/doc/2008-07-00-Sediment-Impact-Investigation-Report.pdf
Look at figures 3 and 4 to see the road sand in the lake from Earth Orbit.
But back to driving the trucks... That is what the people want good driving of the plows. The Grant writing or Department management leaves much to be desired though.
Also I just want you spin doctors posting here to know. You may not be censored but the truth will be told about all you say.
Also do all those drivers get paid double time to drive the yellow trucks.

Kudos
Yes the police are paid, but have you looked lately at what they are paid? The yellow truck was there but I think after the fact. One of these days (I hope not) someone will slide right down into the lake, it did happen years ago. Vinton Road is dangerous from beginning to end. No we don't all have to agree. Could someone tell me the hourly rate for the police vs. highway. Just wandering
