The lack of knowledge about the issues of LaMountain’s and my personal history with some of the (corrupt) town officials is the reason why James LaMountain and I would not win a “popularity contest” in town.
Wettlaufer stated himself after the Gleason disaster that it will take years to regain the trust of the community. For years our community had only little and superficial information provided by failing newspapers about LaMountain, me, and other “trouble makers.” Most of the time, only statements of officials were printed, resulting in biased and unbalanced information. My lawsuit against the Planning Board is a good example. The six years between the Superior Court’s judgment in the Town’s favor and the final ruling in my favor in the Appeals Court of the Commonwealth, Earl Johnson and Wettlaufer repeated the same lie over and over, the lie that I’m the bad guy and that I don’t have anything better to do than to file frivolous lawsuits, (the Superior Court ruled in the town’s favor because town counsel Vincent McCaughey intentionally misrepresented the law and thought he will get away with it as I’m not an attorney and was just representing myself.)
LaMountain’s sworn statement (10.4MB) is telling. Even so I’m intimate familiar with most of his cases, reading LaMountain’s sworn statement (10.4MB) I learned more evil details about involved town officials.
According to LaMountain’s sworn statement, Anthony Grossi, which is a close personal friend of Wettlaufer, tried to buy the hillside property in May of 2006. LaMountain refused to sell and Wettlaufer allegedly declared LaMountain to the public enemy #1 just weeks later at the 4th of July party which took place at Wettlaufer’s residence, see first entry for July 2006 of LaMountain’s affidavit (10.4MB).
Another evil detail I did not know is the fact that LaMountain allegedly applied for an agricultural preservation restriction that would prohibit forever none agricultural development on LaMountain’s land, see 5th entry of February 2007 of LaMountain’s affidavit (10.4MB). According to the affidavit (10.4MB), the Holland Conservation Commission refused to consider and sign LaMountain’s application.

What many here do not know is that I have been providing uncompensated foster care to children for the past 27 years. I have had 2 boys who are now 13 and 11, a Girl I got when she was 15 years old, she is now 23, and an 18 year old girl. All these children were signed over to me by their parents. I also have a 13 year old biological son, a 26 year old son, a daughter, and a 27 year old son. My 27 year old son Michael and his pregnant girlfriend also live with me and depend on our farm for their livelihood. I funded a trust with the proceeds of my retirement to care for all these children. I had previously cared for a family of 4 children from 1981-1991 that were not my children and saw them every week until I was sent to jail in 1991. These children all call me "Uncle Jim."
There will be no Christmas in our home this year. The actions against me and my family have left us financially devastated and we will begin to default on monthly mortgage payments. We will prioritize our resources to pay for our land first and to set up some sort of vehicle to accomplish that utilizing the land lease annuities from the cellular and the wind towers in Oxford and Holland. These annuities are worth well over 25 million dollars over the life of the leases and long term should be positive for the kids.
Cap financial should be able to find someone who is willing to bank on us and our land leases.
Short term cash flow is critical and we can not survive many more months. Repossession of the loader and Mike’s truck is imminent and we are behind on our taxes. Monies earmarked to further the farm and make payments, has been consumed by engineers, consultants, and attorneys.
Town officials are trying to jail me now and that could also happen very quickly.
I am not really complaining here because I know in my heart that what ever happens... good or bad, is part of life and meant to be. The truth is and always will be.
Chaos seems to reign supreme at times and it is so easy to slip from the path or be yanked.
So I just want to thank all you hardworking people who have been involved over the past few years with our farm and let you know. Christmas is in our hearts... every day we live is a present.
We will continue to fight the good fight as long as we are able to and I ask the powers of the universe to help each and every one of you in your own personal struggles.
Take Care
Jim L
