Mr. Frei,
The photos of the trash of the Highway Department seemed to fit in with all of the other small and large offenses of those that abuse the system are getting away with in our Town. Good job on the informative by-lines that keep residents in the know. Like we said before, we do have other tidbits and some larger than tidbits that should be general knowledge for residents that care about this community.
Again the Highway Department. There have been calls made to the Highway Department at 6AM, 7AM, and 8AM and there has not been a response even once in 12 calls. First let me explain on the early call. These calls were all made from June 22, 2009 to August 27, 2009, the so called "summer schedule of the Highway Department". The way it happens is the fact that there is a Massachusetts law that states there must be given to workers "lunch and rest breaks" during the course of work. Well, if our "Highwayguys" work until 4 PM during summer schedule, what time do they start work? Let's see, starting at 6 AM, quitting time would be 4PM. Has anyone seen these "highwayguys" at the "barn" after 3 PM? You betcha no, what we do see is them and their vehicles beating a hasty path to home. Second scenario, does the Town pay for lunch time? This could be costly to the Town if each of the "highwayguys" took a lunch for 30, no 40, no most likely 60 minutes, times the total of "highwayguys", which on any given day could be anywhere from 4 to 8 bodies. And again that would be the case if they all showed up for work without anyone putting in their time without having them actually being there. Yes, there are plenty of discrepancies in and around our Highway Department. But think about this a little further. If the "highwayguys" do not get a paid lunch, then they would have to start work(sic) at 5AM to be allowed to beat that hasty path to home. Nah! Maybe still try to report to the barn at 6 AM and then beat that hasty path home at 5 PM. This time a bigger NAH!!!! Give us a break "highwayguys", the letter S on our foreheads used to mean "stupid" but now and in the future it means "SERIOUSLY watching and waiting to get you what you deserve". So "highwayguys", better start walking the straight and narrow and don't be empty-headed like the trash containers are now. Maybe the highwayguys will get smart, nah, they have protection, so it looks like the protection will be watched also.
Speaking of protection. What an eye opener the Selectboard meeting of October 6, 2009 was. Priviledged and Town information carried to an individuals home to do what with? Are these files, checks and whatever going to be used against individuals? Confiscate all of this information now. Get it all back to the Town Hall. If it is on a laptop, palm or whatever, confiscate that and have that info saved to the Town records and then have the memory purged. Make sure all "backup" copies are also found and destroyed. Destroyed by an entity not part of this town and it's small politics. We were wondering if this meeting was a setup to make the "protectors" look good as they knew this was going on and needed some good karma to show the residents that they are doing their jobs (at least two who attended as selectmen).
This final tidbit (for now), is a couple of photos of some items that have been donated to the seniors of Holland, or for that matter, to whomever needs them. What a shame! How many Town residents can or could have used some of these items. Let's see, there are wheelchairs (even an electric one), potties, potty towers, walkers, crutches, and even an excersier for home bound seniors. Wonder who should be thanked for their heartfelt donation? Better yet, who should be thanked? for storing them in a rodent infested, water laden building on Town property. Guess where this is. Come on you irate residents, start looking.
