Fire destroyes AGWAY Store in Palmer.

Around 2:30 a.m. this morning, the AGWAY store on 1445 Park St. (Rt. 20) in Palmer caught fire. Officials suspect arson. Route 20 was closed in both directions between Stone Street (Rt. 32) and Fenton Road in Monson. Fire engines from Ware were on the scene too.

The sign on the white post supporting the roof that reads, "NO PARKING ANY TIME, FIRE LANE" survived the fire. Only twisted metal survived the fire.

The Department of Environmental Protection was also on the scene as AGWAY had fertilizer and other chemicals in large quantities stored. Destroyed AGWAY store around 11
