Massachusetts Farm registration # 3180 has been assigned by the Commonwealth for the 75 acre parcel of land that was the former Blodgett Farm. The property located on Mashapaug road was purchased by Northeast Concepts Inc. back in May 2006. Judge Dina E. Fine of the Housing Court ruled on June 5, 2007 in favor of James LaMountain in a lawsuit initiated by the board of selectmen in an attempt to deny us, the LaMountain‘s, our exemptions we enjoy as farmers. FINDINGS, RULINGS, AND ORDER FOR ENTRY OF PERMANENT INJUNCTION, DOCKET NO. 06-CV-00392 HOUSING COURT DEPARTMENT, WESTERN DIVISION.
In a news article published in the Southbridge Evening News back in May of 2007 Wettlaufer claimed:
“The problem is he can‘t prove he‘s a farmer. He‘s offered no evidence to anyone that he‘s a farmer.” The article went on to state: Wettlaufer said that he sees the conflict with LaMountain and his supporters as “just endless stuff with these people.” “They‘re going to do whatever they want to do, no matter the rules or what impact it will have on anyone else, and that‘s all there is to it.”
There is always more; Wettlaufer and his two stooge companions again wasted taxpayer‘s money on another frivolous lawsuit in pursuit of his personal agenda which is really what it comes down to.
Wettlaufer‘s statement is a blatant lie!
In another suit a Superior Court judge opined:
“The plaintiff [James LaMountain] provided the Town a letter declaring their agricultural intent. They provided Huguenot Farm Inc.‘s articles of organization to the Town Clerk, Fire Chief, Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, and the DEP. They provided a declaration of agricultural exemption and a copy of 310 Code Mass. Regs. 7.07 to the Board of Selectmen.”

The HuguenotFarms@Bondet Hill circa 1687 in Oxford already had standing as a farm under the farm registration # 1119 for their Historic Oxford Home Farm.
The additional number was assigned after the Commonwealth sent a Massachusetts State Police Officer to the Oxford and Holland properties last week to evaluate agricultural activities on the properties. The Trooper reviewed the tax records for Northeast Concepts Inc. as part of his evaluation.
The 3180 registration now names Northeast Concepts Inc as an agricultural business with the Huguenot Farm and specifically mentions the property on Mashapaug Road as part of the Huguenot Farm.
The property was formerly known as the Blodgett Farm. The Blodgett family is one of Holland's oldest who along with the Howlett‘s were part of the founding families of the area. Northeast Concepts Inc. purchased the land from descendants of Godffrey De Nims a venerable Huguenot Merchant.
The property was also once owned by the Chaffee Family of Oxford who used it as a woodlot around the turn of the 19th century. The Chaffee‘s were an Oxford family who kept their Oxford store stocked with firewood harvested from the farm. It is karma that the colonial Huguenot farm is also based in Oxford.
Chaffee Road in Holland bears the name of the Family from Oxford where an Elementary School also bears the Chaffee name thus tying the towns together historically. More Holland History can be found in the Secure Historical Section of the Oxford Public Library.
